Scholarship Information

 

Albert Flegenheimer Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility-any high school senior who has completed a Michigan Sugar 4H/Youth Project, must be a resident in a county where sugarbeets are grown and be available for a personal interview in May 2008.  Student must complete an application and write an essay.

American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Michigan Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility-Only daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughter or step of the afore-mentioned, of any honorably discharged or deceased men/women veterans of WW I, WW II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Hostilities, Granada & Lebanon Hostilities, Panama Hostilities or Persian Gulf Conflict.  Student must be a high school senior, a resident of the State of Michigan and attend an educational institution in the State of Michigan after high school graduation.  Award is based on financial need and scholastic standing. 
Amount:  $500.

Eligibility-Only daughters, granddaughters, great-granddaughter, sons, grandsons, great-grandsons or step of the afore-mentioned, of any honorably discharged or deceased men/women veterans of WW I, WW II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Hostilities, Granada & Lebanon Hostilities, Panama Hostilities or Persian Gulf Conflict.  Student must be a high school senior, a resident of the State of Michigan and attend an educational institution in the State of Michigan after high school graduation.  Award is based on financial need and scholastic standing. 
Amount:  $500 for first year training for the position of registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, physical therapist or respiratory therapist.

Bernard F. and Melissa Anne Bailey Family Fund Scholarshp
Eligibility-student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, be a resident or have family living in the mid-Michigan area and pursuing careers in nursing, medicine, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, sonography or speech pathology.

Breckenridge Sports Boosters Scholarship
Eligibility-Student must be nominated by their coach and their coach must write a letter of recommendation. One senior male and one senior female will be awarded a scholarship

Coca-Cola Scholarships Foundation
Eligibility:  High school senior, U.S. citizen or legal resident of the U.S., 3.0 GPA or better at the end of his/her junior year of high school, and student must be planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post secondary institution. Applicants may NOT be children or Grandchildren of  employees, officers or owners of Coca-cola bottling companies, The Coca-Cola Company or any bottler or Company divisions or subsidiaries.    Students may ONLY apply online
Amount:  50 awards are for $20,000, payable in equal installments over a four-year period. 
200 awards are for $ 10,000, also payable over a four-year period.

Gratiot County Community Foundation Scholarships
County Wide Scholarships: must be a graduating senior of a school in Gratiot County
Sue Dilts Memorial Art Scholarship-must pursue education beyond the classroom in arts (band camp, dance workshops, art class, etc.).
Gratiot VFW Post 7805 Scholarship-submit a one page typewritten essay, preference to relatives of veterans, preference to students demonstrating academic achievement and financial need.
Linn P. Kanitz Memorial Scholarship-must apply to band camp tuition, must be willing to make a presentation of the “band camp experience” to First Baptist Church.
Rober W. MacDonald memorial Scholarship-pursue post-secondary study in journalism, submit two references on specific form, one reference from a minister, youth advisor or adult with first hand knowledge of applicant, and a one page essay.
Katherine Mullinax Memorial Scholarship-must demonstrate academic achievement, community service and financial need.
Richard D. Prestage Memorial Scholarship-pursue education in the field of nursing.
Youth Advisory Council Scholarship-must be a member of YAC for at least 2 years and participated in no less than 5 meetings and/or YAC sponsored community service activities, 3.0 GPA or higher, one page typewritten essay, letters of support of community service (family members and YAC advisors excluded).
Breckenridge High School Scholarship:
Leo “Bud” and Janet Goodyear Scholarship-be a graduation senior of Breckenridge Community Schools, pursue a post-secondary education at a college, university or trade school, 3.0 GPA or higher, preference given to those pursuing education in the field of agriculture.

Home Builders’ Association of Central Michigan Women’s Council 2008 Scholarship
Eligibility-this award is reserved for the child of Home Builders’ Association of Central Michigan or an HBA Women’s Council Member, must be a graduating senior seeka future career within the home building industry.  Fields of study should include (but not limited to) engineering, architecture, interior design and the building trades.

The Michigan Oil & Gas Producers Education Foundation (MOGPEF) Scholarship
Elgibility - Student must be a high school senior with a 3.0 GPA or better. They must be accepted for enrollment at a Michigan university or community college pursuing a degree in an energy related field of study with the ambition of seeking to obtain full-time employment in the oil and gas business, an energy related business or an allied business and have need of financial assistance. Amount: $500 to the top 5 applicants.

Michigan State Troopers Assitance Fund Scholarship 2008
Eligibility-Student must be a high school senior with a 3.25 GPA or better, completed a the FAFSA, complete scholarship application, and write and essay.

Phil Brimhall Memorial Scholarship

Walter J. Witte Governmental Service Scholarship
Requirements-applicant must be a Midland County resident, complete an application, and write a one page essay regarding your career choice and how you intend to incorporate that career in a governmental service environment.
